Medial Branch Nerve Block Procedure
Targeting Chronic Back PainMedial Branch Nerve Block
The Medial Branch Nerve Block is a therapeutic and diagnostic procedure that targets the medial nerves which are responsible for carrying pain signals to the spinal cord and on to the brain. The use of fluoroscopy and contrast dye in the injection identifies the nerves and inactivates them, eliminating chronic refractory back pain. The reaction of the nerves to the procedure determines if further treatment is needed.
